Funding in Sport - Erasmus+
Frame 1744

Sports clubs and associations continue to promote sport and physical activity with enormous effort and dedication, making an extremely positive impact on the lives of the people and communities around them.

Nowadays, one of the biggest challenges facing most sports clubs is the difficulty in raising funding to meet their activity plans.

Recognizing the existence of this challenge and the importance that sports clubs have in the social, sporting and economic development of communities, the European Union created the Erasmus+ Sport funding program. The main aim is to strengthen and support the development of sport throughout Europe in a cohesive way, while promoting European identity and awareness of the importance of living in a united Europe committed to its project.

This Erasmus+ Sport programme aims to financially support sports clubs in carrying out projects involving the following priorities: social inclusion, digitalization, sustainability and participation in sport. Depending on the application, your club could receive funding of between 30,000 and 500,000 euros.

To apply for funding from the Erasmus+ Sport program, you need to follow a few important steps:

  1. Identify the type of project you want to carry out and the Erasmus+ Sport action that best suits your needs.
  2. Check the eligibility criteria for funding and ensure that your organization meets all the requirements.
  3. Find a partner or partners in other European countries to collaborate on the project.
  4. Draw up a detailed application, including information about the project, the partners, the planned activities, the budget and the expected goals and results.
  5. Submit the application by the deadline and await the decision of the evaluation committee.

It is important to note that the application process for the Erasmus+ Sport program is complex and competitive, and it is necessary to have a good understanding of the requirements, experience in preparing these applications and an understanding of the program’s expectations in order to increase the likelihood of a successful application.

Erasmus+ Sport, using sport as a vehicle, clearly demonstrates the serious commitment that the European Union sees in promoting fundamental values. By prioritizing sustainability, inclusion, digitalization and participation, the programme aims to strengthen the role of coaches and technical staff in grassroots sports clubs by creating a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable sporting environment.

This is an investment in the future of young athletes and sports clubs, and also in building a healthier, more united, participatory and sustainable society.
